An endangered Engagement

After almost 2 years of dating and one child later Lorenzo and I are finally engaged. I am so elated it was so heartfelt and special. he went through these great lengths to make it memorable. I was absolutely stunned an had no idea that he would propose. Lorenzo and I have had alot of ups and downs but we've found that no matter what we love each other very much and we absolutely love our family. I couldn't be more happy and excited for our long future together. Many women especially african american women want to think that most men are commitment phobes and marriage is a taboo topic to talk about, but its your future I atleast want to make sure I'm in a relationship thats going to have movement. I now firmly believe the sanitity of marriage still exist you just need two people who are in love and willing to put in the necessary work. Even though we didn't do things the conventional way with having a child first and co-habiting before marriage we did what works for us and thats all that matters.
-The future Mrs. Lorenzo Brown...has a nice ring too it, literally.

You mean I missed my major by a couple of seconds

When I decided to become an English major my first reason was to go to law school. After several failed attempts at the obvious I realized I was not lawyer material. I still decided to pursue a career in English with a spealization in literature, because I wanted to make my markon the world and become a teacher. I naive-ly though English_Lit would be an easy majo because all I had to do was read a few books interpret an anthology of literature and write a few papers...boy was I wrong. Since fall of 2008 when I really buckled down and got serious about school I pushed myself to achieve what no one else in my family ever did...Graduate from college. Whenever I tell someone what my major is its always followed up with..."so what are you going to teach"! Like dag is that all you can do as an English major when in all actuality that was exactly what I was going to do. School has been a joyful struggle for me because I have the pressure from my family to finish yet I have the mentality of a professional slacker.Geesh school just got real and mediocricy won't cut it this year...Help Me!

Quirky doesn't mean Weird...Right?

Hello follow Bloggers and Blog reading enthusiasts alike. The intial reason for this blog was a requirement for a general education class in writing, that I was taking at the time. I only fulfilled my two post a week reqirement of post and abandoned my .02 cents shortly there after. I was a transitional point of my life with having my son and finding balance in my newly aquired role...very hard to do but I trekked on. Blog writing can not be forced. You first have to have a passion for writing and creativity, next you have to have something to write about. Finally you have to time, patience, and dedication. There are lots of topics I could talk about but to keep this blog from going all over the place I decided to narrow it down to a few of my passions...which are Natural Hair, Natural Hair products, and makeup tutorials I haven't decidedwhether or not I want to do joint blogs focusing on my home lfe, spirit filled walk with God and parenting for Africans Americans in today's society. This should be fun I'm excited to venture out and try new things to give you a wide spectrum of topics...Keep faith and Happy blogging
